My wife and I recently purchased a classic Mercedes 450SL. With a little research thanks to this book, we were able to make a smart buy. This book pointed out common problems we were unaware of, saving us from buying a money pit of a car. Also, this book was written for the normal person. It is easy to understand. Step by step it shows you how to make repairs - many of them the average person can do - again saving you the expense of a mechanic.Got an older ride? This book is a must.

I bought from Better World Books and was pleasantly surprised. The cover wasn’t brand sparkly new but no wear marks, smudges, or stains. It was like it wasn’t in a factory sealed package. All pages were like new. No grease, thumb marks, or age discoloring. Much better than I expected. I’ll buy from them again with no qualms.

I usually try to have a factory repair manual for cars I have had, but when your choices are limited with an older car then this manual works pretty good. The torque values and specs alone are worth the cost. My one complaint is the pictures are very poor resolution and hard to see clearly.

Need more detail for a 1982 380sl. I think I am spoiled by Spitfire and Gt-6 Haynes manuals. Maybe because they cover years with few changes and similar/same parts the manuals are very good. This is OK but not enough detail for all systems and subsystems in an MB

I wish that Haynes made one of these books for my 560SL, but they don't and neither does Chiltons. But my 560 and the 450 share a lot of parts so I got the book in case it will help should I need it.

Hanes manuals are not OEM, but have a good material and good pictures. One of these books is a great add-on for any vehicle you own.
