Easy fix that most home owners could do

Watched a YouTube video of the most common Central Air not working fixes. I went out and checked mine as it has not worked a couple of years. Sure enough, the main fan was working, but touching the compressor tube, you could feel it pulling every second or so, but not starting. Removing the old part and measuring it, the fan side was good and the compressor side was bad. Watch some YouTube videos if you dont know how to do that. It's not difficult.Anyways, after kicking myself in the butt for 5 minutes straight, I ordered a replacement here on Amazon. Product arrived fine and appears to be a well built part.Steps to replace it:1)To start, most units have an outdoor circuit breaker you can pull to de-energize the unit. Pull that and/or flip the switch for the CA unit in your main fuse box. Next, remove the side access port on the outside unit, usually just two screws to get access to where the starter cap and relays are.2)Checked the old cap to make sure it was de-energized (Very important step!!!). Do not touch those wires if it's still energized! If the unit is truely powered down and you still measure voltage on the old cap, you may need to discharge the old cap. Remember though, there are TWO caps in one and you need to discharge BOTH. If either still has a charge, they could give you a serious bite. Not to scare you away from doing it, you just have to be safe.3)Marked the color of the wires and where they plugged into on the old cap. Note:Take a couple of pictures of the old cap and what wire goes where on it. This can be good to reference later!4)Unplugged all the wires from the old cap and loosened the strap holding it in, and removed it.5)Fit the new cap in under the strap, tighten it down but not so tight that it could dent the new cap, and plugged the wires into the new cap in the same positions as the old cap.Note: In most cases, the compressor will plug into the terminal stamped HERM. The fan goes to Fan if stamped. There are often two wires that were on the same terminal on the old cap, and that is the common. Plug all the wires in and DOUBLE CHECK you did it right. Take a picture of the old one at the start if you're not sure.6)Put the side access cover back on the unit.7)Reinstall the circuit breaker. Set the thermostat to turn it on and hopefully you have nice cool air blowing in a few minutes!8)Especially if this fixes it, a very important step is to order a second cap!!! Then you dont have to wait long if it goes out. These get stressed every time the fan or compressor turns on. They do go bad eventually, so just have a backup ready. You will hopefully get a good 3-5 years out of the cap.In the attached picture, the temp was 78, now 71. Spouse and kids are happy. Therefore. I am happy.

This part literally saved me a $450 service call

Buying this $15 part literally saved me a $450 service call for an AC that the fan was not spinning. Years back with a different system I had a problem that is very similar to what I'm experiencing now which is the fan not turning on its own, I can give it a little push initially and it would start and then now it doesn't do it at all. I looked up all on the web and found out that it's likely the capacitor, I pulled the old one off of the AC and used the numbers on it to purchase this one. I put it into place, reset all the breakers and we now have AC again. Amazing cheap solution to a very expensive service call. Please note that when you turn everything back on it the system may need to reset itself and if it doesn't have a reset button which mine didn't, it took almost 20 minutes for it to reset but everything turned on and is working fine and we have cold air again. Why did you pick this product vs others?: the numbers on the side of the capacitor match this oneEase of replacement: very easy to replace since there are only two terminals

This capacitor fixed my camp trailer A/C problem.

This capacitor fixed my camp trailer A/C problem. My A/C fan would not kick on. It buzzed like it was trying to start, but it just wouldn't go. After searching YouTube for answers, it looked like the capacitor might be the problem so I bought this one and gave it a try. It worked! The specs matched, but It is a little shorter and bigger around than the original. The A/C mount accommodated for different sizes, so it was no problem. The lugs were a little closer together than the original so it was a little tricky getting three connectors on the common, but they did fit and all is working great now.

Capacitor ratings are very important. Match with ratings of the capacitor being replaced.

So far I am very pleased with this capacitor. The capacitance values are well within it's rated values and currently has my AC running like new again.IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you order a capacitor with the exact same value(s) as the original part. Example: If the original capacitor has a rating of 25/7.5 uf (MFD) at 370V, order a capacitor of equal value. Voltage differences are ok as long as the new capacitor voltage is rated higher than the original. Incorrect capacitance values will cause premature failure of the new capacitor and/or damage to the fan and compressor motor.I would like to give input regarding lifespan, but it has only been 3 weeks since I installed the new capacitor. If there are any issues involving this item within the next 90 days, I will update this review.

Haven't tried it yet, but the smell is potent

You receive a small bottle of product and a syringe to measure the exact amout of prodcut for each gallon of water Though I haven't used it yet, The smell is potent. Every year my bluegrass yard gets attacked by grubs. I spread the grub killer you get at big box stores 3 time snd they still cause significant damage. This year, I'm going to spread the dry granuals 3 times as usual, and then blast them putting the product in a fertilizer injector. I'll give an updare on whether or not this wipes out their booty!

Worked for my Portable A\C unit

Worked great on my portable a/c unit that was no longer blowing cold air. Once I replaced the part it works without issues. Before, the a/c unit would trip the circut breaker or turn off constantly from day one. Its been a week later since I replaced this part and it works great! I went with this slightly bigger size compared to what the a/c originally had, but after another review mentioned this would be helpful, I decided to try it and it works fine. Of course, at my own risk I tried it but I needed my portable a/c unit to work instead of spending another $500 to buy a new one.

Great capacitor, got my pool/spa heater back running!

Fixed my blown capacitor in my inground pools heat pump heater. Checked it with my Fluke multimeter to make sure the new one was in spec and I am attaching my readings. Which they were all spot on. Seems well made, packaging was fine and Amazon shipped it promptly. Not sure on the longevity but if it blows quickly I will update my review.
