This mold is probably not good for a beginner. The reason I say this is that a beginner probably wants to see the end product quickly. For me, I am having to pour the numbers first. But I used a brush on colorant for them and didn't want it to show on anything but just the numbers. Brush on colorant dust can spread out beyond just the actual brushed surface. That's pour #1. Then another pour (#2) of just clear for the picture to have a good, lasting surface. (I like to use a VERY SMALL amount of blue here to keep resin from yellowing with age.) Then it's time to use another clear layer of resin after adding my picture. (#3) After these three steps, then it's time for the final (#4) background colorant(s). All of these steps also help to keep the resin from pushing out against the mold, causing it to retain its actual rectangular shape. If all is poured at once, the mold might easily lose its shape unless it's braced well on the outside. (Another time consuming step.) Then there's the problem of actually assembling it with the clock hands and motor. This is another step. (Which I haven't done yet because it's a gift months away.) Plus, I want this clock to be able to sit on a surface rather than try to figure out how to hang it. Another step, along with another mold purchase. If you are a beginner and have lots of patience, then this will be ok for you. But if you want a quick and easy project, wait until you have more experience. And...patience. Just to add a note after doing two of these... If you are planning on using a picture...air bubbles... I decided to put the picture in on top of the first layer of clear resin. To avoid air bubbles, I carefully sealed around the picture with a tacky glue. After all four sides were sealed and dry, I sealed in one direction over the entire picture. After drying thoroughly, I sealed the picture again with tacky glue goiyin the opposite direction. The tacky glue dries without showing any brush strokes when it dries and another layer of clear resin is added. This did a fantastic job of keeping air bubbles out of the picture. I had never used Tacky Glue before. It worked fantastically! This process added a couple more days, but was well worth it. I probably could have gotten by just letting it dry for a few hours. I decided to just take more time. And I was glad I did.

I got this for a fun afternoon project with the kiddos, and it was a hit. The mold was sturdy enough during the pouring process, but easy enough to pull off. The clock motor is standard and basic, and seems to be accurate. Great gift item, or project for kids who like crafts.

I have made many clocks with resin, but so far this is one of my favorites! There are so many ways you decorate this!

Very good mold easy to remove just wish it came with a stand..

I have made 2 now and both clocks the resin will not settle even, the dot on the "i" will not fill in with resin nor mica powder, purchased a second one thinking I just had a defect mold and the same thing plus the clock hands were broke

The clock wasn't long enough to fit which made it impossible to screw together when adding to the frame. I tried to glue it but the 2nd hand just spins because there was not enough room to attach it properly, so it can't be used. Big disappointment. Also the mold is lopsided so it doesn't cure evenly.
