An Excellent Fully Automatic Turntable
From my review in Outword...The sound quality, is simply amazing. During COVID I bought ELOâs âOut of the Blueâ with the album artwork on the disc themselves. I thought it made for a poor pressing when I played it on my old Techniques turntable, but the Automat showed just how glorious it was regardless of the image discs. The Ortofon really pulls out the subtleties, air and space that is so cleverly imbedded in those grooves. Andreas Vollenweiderâs âDown to the Moonâ is a masterpieces that shines on this turntable.I donât have many LPs available to me but I can say Norah Joneâs âCome Away With Meâ is a stunner, Lorena McKinnittâs âThe Visitâ is breathtaking. At this point, I am not longing for upgrades. The Automat is amazing just the way it is.The fact that you get that level of sound quality, and the machine will put on, and take off the tone arm and stop the platter is almost unbelievable. It may sound petty, but I wish it was slightly more automatic. It would be great if it had a Repeat function, and out of this world if it had a remote control so you could start it from the comfort of your sofa. But, alas, having a record player and listening to records is about the experience.it's is an excellent machine. I am really enjoying it.

Problems
I bought this particular turntable because it is advertised as one of the best to connect to a Sonos system. I also bought a Sonos Five Speaker to connect it to. This model also has a built in preamp which I thought was a good idea. Bottom line is that there is a strong and loud electronic hum when I try to play this through my Sonos system. I've trouble shot the issue through Sonos and they eliminated any speaker or cable issues. I will call Pro-Ject Customer service on Monday (They are not open on weekends). If I get this resolved I will update this poor rating. It could be that this simply came with a defective preamp that's what I suspect after trying everything else.Update: The tech rep from Project-Ject finally confirmed that it must be a defective preamp after I spent most of the call convincing him that the A1 even had a built in preamp. He spent much of the call telling me it did not and that I needed to purchase an amp. He finally told me to return it. That caused me to decide to purchase the Sony PS-LX310BT instead of simply replacing this model. So my low rating stands.

Underwhelmed.
How do I return?I am getting a humming nois. My ground is solid. This does not have the build quality I would expect for a $400 piece of equipment. Cheep feeling plastics levers and switches. It tends to get a hum periodically as well. I have a solid ground to amp. Sound quality is OK. I just needed something to fill the slot while I rehab my Revox b790 that started glitching. Just not happy.

horrible
it broke so easy! awful sounds! it is very unprofesional that even though my return table still under warranty, i have to pay for the shipping material and the shipping cost which is almost $100 plus you Jameson are telling me 5 months my turn table back. Ridiculous! NOT RECOMMENDED!

Quality turntable
Never got rid of my vinyl records so it great to play them again, lots of gems that I forgot about. At first I ran this turntable through my phono imput on my receiver and got a lot of feedback, switched to the turntables built in amp and connected it to one of the other imputs on my receiver instead of the phono connection and it worked great that way. Great smooth sound!
