Gave this to my younger brother for his birthday and he loved it. He still takes it apart and puts it back together. I am glad he likes it.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for grandson. Dad & grandson worked on it together. No tears, just smiles & a bit of learning to use the tools. Grandson loves to build things.

The outside of the box is colorful and blazoned with examples of the different vehicles that you could build. It's listed as a level two difficulty and is recommended for 8 years and above. Level two difficulty is still in the novice range of skill, so any mechanically inclined, kid or person should have fun with this kit. Opening the reusable box, inside there are several bags with different pieces, some of them quite small. I would recommend [as I often do], using some old Tupperware pieces to keep everything sorted out. One bag has a lot of small nuts and bolts, that are all hex head drives, and there is a small hex head tea driver included. There is also a small wrench tool that is made of plastic and metal and has different size pieces and pry bars attached to it. The kit comes with real-looking rubber wheels and each of the bags is labeled as recyclable so you can recycle the packaging when you're through. At the bottom of the box there is a baggie with an instruction booklet, some stickers for the finished product, and an 800 number you can call should you run into trouble. Using IKEA-style instructions to assist you with assembly, the booklet is illustrated well. The printed portions of the instruction manual are printed in a bunch of different languages, so everyone seems to be included no matter what. Language is your primary means of communication. As far as assembling the different types of vehicles that you can build, there is a step-by-step illustration showing you how to position the different pieces and giving you the parts for each particular step. For example, for this one step I'm looking at, it shows that you'll need one screw, one bolt, and an angled piece of metal. They even give millimeter depths for the screws because some applications have longer screws than others.All in all, this seems to be a nice kit and reminds me much of an erector set I had as a young man. I'm sure that my grandkid is going to enjoy this and I am looking forward to assembling this with them.

This is a really great set. At first you think it's just a little kit to build a car but it's actually 10 different models in 1 set. The kit may be a bit overwhelming at first because it's just a bunch of metal parts and some hardware (with some stickers for decoration).The kit comes with tools needed and pretty good instructions. Some kids will need adult supervision, but more mechanically inclined will enjoy the challenge of figuring out which nuts and bolts to use where and through trial and error will really grow their mechanical skills on a level that works since you end up with a finished car, plane, or boat that they can be proud of. When they get bored of it, they can take it apart and make something else. They can even invent their own wacky vehicle, it's a lot like the old Erector set with a bit of a modern twist.I absolutely love toys like this, even more than Lego. I am very mechanical and had similar toys growing up which got me into modeling, then small engines, and later full size cars and other mechanical things. I am not a mechanic by trade but I've always been fascinated by how things work and how they go together. If you have a curious child who is always asking how things work or seems to be mechanically inclined, this is a wonderful building set. And it's not that expensive so if they end up not liking it, it's not a big deal. Fun for adults as well if you enjoy following instructions and putting things together and a great way for a parent and child to share some bonding time and make some memories.It may seem overwhelming at first, but if you keep the parts organized and work slowly, it will all come together. I've already made 3 of the models and taking them apart is almost as fun as putting them together (it goes a lot faster too). In a world of screens and plastic everything, it's a breath of fresh air to know there are still toys like this that require old fashioned assembly with metal pieces, and all the effort really pays off. Not just with the finished product, but also the various skills learned along the way.

They obviously market this as though it's metal, but it's mostly plastic pieces with a few metal connectors. This is a disappointment.
