I spend weeks at a time outdoors. Between active duty and deployed defense contractor, I have 35 years DoD experience, and always packed out my old Army poncho, super versatile gear. Had the one wind in my shopping cart for a long time, and finally pulled the trigger. Initial evaluations make me wish I had got it a year ago. Looks well made, sturdy, lightweight, and much better gear than my old army somewhat flappy poncho. I am retired now , but volunteer doing long trail maintenance treks, and do invasive animals trapping as my hobbies now. This poncho might get a good workout starting this weekend at the annual Python challenge in Florida.The specific improvements over my Army gear appear to be weight of course, the ability to cinch up easily and be less flappy around the head, sleeves, legs, and the center strap that adds a lot of improved mobility and fit, especially if I need to wear it over my backpack. I will practice pitching as an emergency shelter soon, but I can tell by the build it's going to be an improvement over my old poncho as well, simply better coverage for less weight.In a sideways hard wind and rain with no shelter options, and you just have to hunker down in the open elements this should do a better job of keeping me and my stuff dry than any poncho I have owned or tried out.Definitely giving 5 stars for the product, but will make one small constructive criticism. The stuff bag is great to include, and I understand wanting to be minimalist with the product, but it took me about 10 minutes to restuff the poncho back in to the super tight bag. If I had another quarter inch on any dimension of the stuff sack I would be less whiny 😫 lol. Great product tho, totally recommend.

There is a reason that ex-military survivalists say that a poncho always goes with them. Of course, the ones they are generally speaking of are the heavy military variety, and whether you need that or something lightweight that packs small is a personal choice, depending upon your use. As for me, this sil-nylon poncho is exactly what I needed.I was going to upload photos showing the versatility of this poncho, but I had forgotten how well-done the sales page is. There is really nothing I can add to the photos and video there except my own observations and experience. What you see in the photos and video is exactly what you will get. The poncho is well-made and very lightweight for its size, and for something made from sil-nylon, the price is very good.I would like to remark about the guy who claimed you have to be small to use this. Either he got something different from what I received, or he must be the size of Andre the Giant. I am over 200 lbs and wear a large hat size, and I have plenty of room. One very important thing is that there is an excess of material at the neck area so that you can easily turn your head to both sides with the poncho tightened around your face, or with a hat on.The only thing I would prefer to be different is that the "stuff sack" is not really a stuff sack but a "fold it and roll it up as tight as you can before putting it in" sack. Once you get the poncho out, it is never going back into that sack, in my opinion. Camping companies like to do that to show how small the item can pack, and I understand that, but nobody is going to do what you have to do to get it back into that sack, IMHO. So I would prefer a larger (real) stuff sack that I could actually stuff the poncho back into without a lot of effort.The weight of the item without the "stuff sack" is 258g or 9.1 oz. Add to that the weight of whatever you decide to use to keep it in. I am using a gallon zipper bag. There is plenty of room to stuff it in there, and I can then squeeze the air out to make a small, flat package.There is one other use that I can see possible for hammock campers. I haven't tried it yet, but I believe that you could use the poncho as a wind-breaker for your hammock or as an underquilt protector. Just a thought.This poncho is going with me on every camping trip. Certainly for car camping, but it is also small enough and light enough for backpacking, as well.So, all in all, great job, OneWind! Well worth the price and 5 stars.

The poncho was a great purchase, light weight and small footprint. Remember that it’s Sylnylon so be careful. The only complaint is that one of the plastic carabiner came loose from the corner stitching with little to no effort because it’s not very strong so I recommend that you reinforce the corner with a box stitching.When i camp i carry a separate tarp for my hammock, but if you plan to have this poncho in an emergency bag or day backpack (just in case you have to spend the night) and you are going to pair it with the Onewind hammock consider buying the medium or large poncho because the size small barely covers the hammocks from end to end. I guess that in light/little rain it’s gonna work, but in heavy rain I doubt it will perform very well.Other than that its an excellent poncho and nothing that can’t be fixed.

So far so good! Im a 5’6” female about 135 lbs and this fit just fine around my big head and my pack! Have yet to test out rain proofness but Im very impressed with price, fabric, functionality and weight! This is a great alternative to rain layers when backpacking! oh AND it shoves back into the sack with no problems. thanks one wind

This is long and at 5'9" almost too long w/out a backpack on. Just heads up.I really like this poncho vs. my older rubberized surplus style poncho cause its way lighter and more water proof. Maybe not as durable for catching on brush etc but I like it that its small and its perfect for walking the dog. I dig the belt strap.I have an enormous head and didn't find the opening too small. A bunch of other reviews mentioned this and maybe they fixed it cause I could get my huge noggin thru the hole even with my glasses. Seems fine.Would 100% buy again. screamin deal at this price. The neck seems might need a hit of seam sealer but thats OK.
