Enjoy a "day at the races" when you play this devious family board game. Just as in a real race meeting, players race their horses around the board to win at all costs. Be devious, bet on your own horse or someone else's, but don't tell anyone who you've bet on. For 2 to 6 players or teams and ages 12 to adult. .Co.Uk review welcome to the really nasty horse racing game-thee game designed to stimulate your worst instincts and get you to use cunning and deviousness to your best advantage. The game comes complete with all pieces needed to play-horsess and jockeys, lane cards, really nasty cards, a riderless horse to create more havoc and the usual dice, pencil and money. The object of the game is to win the most money at the race meeting and this can be done in one of two ways. Firstly, by getting your horse placed first, second or third in the race and secondly, by placing Bets on winning horses. So, how does the game go? each player gets a number of really nasty cards, GBP20, 000 cash and of course, the betting slip. The game lasts for a race meeting of six races. Each player gets six horses, one for each race. The horses are graded 1 to 6, 1 being the best horse and 6 being the worst horse. Before racing starts each owner has to decide which race each horse will run. There are other matters too, such as working out the betting odds, and lots of shady dealings will likely ensue. The elected bookmaker controls the gameplay placing are drawn before each race, and the horse that draws the inside lane starts. Movement is decided by a throw of the dice-onee length forward for one, two lengths for two and so on. There are rules that control the manner of racing as well, such as changing lanes, cornering and blocking, plus the special early pace, quicken up and finish well sections that give extra momentum for your horse. There is also a set of mischief cards to help you create havoc with the other horses and riders in the race. This game really is brilliant-itt lets you bow to your worst instincts without any apologies. Great fun for get togethers. --Ben King

Not Quite as Nice as the Original
We played my brother's original 'Really Nasty Horse Racing Game' several times of the years so we decided to get one for our family. We were disappointed to see that the horses aren't like the original solid horse shape. We had some problems with the horses falling over during the game and that doesn't happen with the sturdier original horses. Although the board is slightly smaller than the original it was still sturdy and shiny. The dry erase board does not come with a stand like the original so we used our own stand. The odds are now on the game board instead of the dry erase board. We also noticed that the game only comes with one small light weight die instead of 6 dice. The new game also cut back on pencils. You get one pencil instead of 6. Another difference is the money is now only printed on one side vs. 2. The only change that we thought was for the better were the cards. The new cards do a better job of explaining what each card does. There is also a 'ghost horse' card that isn't in the original and it added a new element of fun to the game. Overall game play itself was still enjoyable and the same as the original. I still recommend the game, but if you can get the original for a reasonable price on ebay I would do that instead.

Still good
Components not nearly as nice as some of the earlier versions and the original but this is a very fun game nonetheless. Still recommended.

Great game, but the build quality has dropped.
This really is a fun game and like its title, it brings out the 'nasty' bit in good way..The idea o win money by placing bets is not new, but the format of this game and the ability to be devious, will lead to a strong comments, so good idea not to play it with youngsters present! My only disappointment, when I bought this 20 years ago, the horses were actually crafted, and now they are thin plastic that you push into a stand .. hence the title comment.Still a great game though ...

CLASSIC BOARD GAME!
Just the best game! Use to play this when I was really young with my nan and granddad, it used to bring many tears and tantrums. Now in in my 30s I can hold back the tears! This is a must buy board game, it does take a couple of races to get the hang of it for new players however once you have those under your belt you will be strategically using those nasty cards on your loved ones with confidence! I actually ended up buying this game for two other people on my Prime after one game with the newbies!

Christmas gift for my partner
I bought this as a novelty Christmas gift for me partner who loves horse racing. He looked unimpressed when he opened it but gave me the benefit of the doubt and played it... and it was terrible. We had a good laugh at how terrible a purchase this was and how he's prefer to choose his own Christmas presents after this attempt! Oh well, it was only a novelty gift, although a little on the expensive side for a game to be played once!

Really fun game!
Only played in 2 players so far to give it a go pre xmas and understand the rules, and despite you can still play in 2 the bets that you place are a bit more “obvious” - the prize money also becomes a little irrelevant because betting gives you the most return (and the aim of the game is to have the most cash at the end). However still good fun in 2, but definitely will be a fanstastic game in 4 people, can’t wait to play! The game quality is good, nice board, good cards, and the betting board wipes off very well if you use its own marker pen.

Very Enjoyable
I first played this with my flatmate who had a rather large collection of board games, safe to say I enjoyed it the first time I played it.The really nasty horse racing game is very enjoyable especially with the full 6 player, ( I would recommend 4-6), It's a great laugh, especially since you can win with virtually nothing or loose with everything.I decided to get my own copy, of which I am very glad I did as it is a nice addition to my collection. The only bad game I had of this was where no one won any of their bets so we never reached high amounts of money, however we still had a good time as it was an amusing circumstance.I would reccomend this game.
