Companion Journal to the Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet
I needed a diet re-set and this was it! This is a great companion to the Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet. I think the intention was for those with Type 2 Diabetes, but should have been marketed for anyone struggling with weight issues. This journal was well thought out and includes sections for documenting personal information, lose-it, live-it and tips on how to stay motivated to change your lifestyle. The Mayo Clinic does use food exchange for loss/maintenance and points out the differences between that used by the Diabetic Association and what they recommend for Good Health. ie: beans are counted as protein, not carbohydrate and dairy is also considered a protein and no need to measure / weigh food. There is a lot to like about this journal; 1. It feels like the Truth. 2. There isn't 217 pages of the exact same page; but rather sections that keep you on track and motivated.

Wonderful journal but was damaged upon arrival.
5 stars for the journal but 1 star to Amazon for delivery condition. Spine was damaged. I need to use it so probably won't return but packaging should be more thought out with soft covered books. As far as the actual content of the journal, you can't beat anything Mayo produces. There is something about pen and paper that surpasses electronic record keeping for some. If that is you then this journal is a thorough accounting for daily food and activity with helpful hints. The journal should be paired with the Mayo Diabetes Diet for maximum potential.

Mayo Diabetes Diet Journal
This review is specifically for the journal. I liked this journal so much I'm ordering a second one. I didn't use everything on every page, I used what I felt would work for me - mainly tracking my weight, calorie intake, daily goals and activity. My results with my first journal : by religiously writing what I ate every day and the calories, and keeping my calories at or under the limit I set, I lost 17 lbs.Could I have done the same thing in just a notebook? Yes, but there's something about this journal that makes me want to track everything every day without fail. The only fault I find with it is I wish they'd used colors light enough to write notes in for the empty space on the pages. Now, on to my next weight loss!

A Helpful Tool to Accompany the Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet
“The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet Journal” provides motivation, helps the dieter set goals, in an easy to use journal format. The eight week program is designed to establish making healthy weight a lifetime commitment. In the wrap up the authors provide strategies to help in this commitment. I found the motivational tips especially helpful. An easy to follow introduction begins with help to establish an realizable goal for the day. The planner gives steps to organize your meal plans, exercises, and guidance for an effective weight program. Persistence for the two month program has proven effective. Note remember this journal is designed to accompany “The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet.”

keeping a food journal helps.
I really like the first two weeks. Would have preferred that the whole book was like that. Easy to keep track. Have not been as good at tracking with the food pyramid but it can be very useful if you follow it completely.

Seems to be the main successful way to manage my diabetes.
I expected a section that was removable so I could make copies of the food I was eating.

Diabetes Diet Workbook
Good workshop with examples, but a bit confusing (could be more simplified and better explained in the beginning that the first few exercises are intended as a trial study of your eating behaviors before actually getting fully into the diet planning. Had to flip back and forth too often.

Just What I Needed!
Easy to keep track of, with good reminders. Nothing hits you over the head and makes you feel bad about yourself, just gently encourages and keeps you focused. Despite travels, my 50th high school reunion, and Canadian Thanksgiving, I'm steadily losing weight and not feeling deprived!

not so useful
Unfortunately this note/book didn't help me much.It was too complicated for my daily use because I don't understand their method.
