It works great
This hard drive enclosure save me a world of pain. I was unable to start my MacBook Pro. Bought this drive took the H/D out of my MBP moved some of the data off. Saved me from what I thought was a disaster. East to use👌🏾

Understated Simplicity, Top Notch Quality
This product was excellent. I am an IT guy and work with a lot of different materials, computers, drives, drive form factors, etc. I was a little weary about stepping out into the world of ordering drive cradles for Apple Products, because apple drives are so strangely specific, even varying from model to model in older years. This product truly took the guess work out of it for me. Inside the nice packaging, there were some spare screws if you needed them, a USB-C cable, and of course the enclosure. I can't speak highly enough of the enclosure itself. It's sturdy, appears to be cut precisely, and machined perfectly to store the PCB inside. The included screws worried me at first about holding a drive in place, but they did remarkably well, fitting perfectly within the enclosure. You can tell this product isn't cheaply made, and if you're debating another product over this one...definitely choose this one. As someone who's been in the industry for 15 years...it's easy for me to recognize this as a quality product. The only downfall or shortcoming I could see to this product, was that inside the box there was not a USB-A connector. While USB-C is nice, and generally faster, USB-A is what's needed for most of these older macbooks, so I'd consider reworking that if possible, or just simply adding a USB-A connector into the box alongside USB-C.

Overheats, doesn't work, drive barely fits
First, the materials look good. But it's just got good looks.I got this to pull data from an old mac SSD, which it says it's specifically for. So I don't know why they included an adapter to connect a normal M2 drive. The Apple drive barely fits in the enclosure, so I can't imagine how a regular drive would fit.Second, it doesn't work. I thought I might have gotten a dud; it happens, but the second was also not detected as a device on any computer. The most I got was an unknown device showing up for one computer, but the computer couldn't get any info about what was plugged in. The LED on the drive lit for a split second, but never came back on.Third, as others have noted. IT GETS HOT. I was trying to see if I could get it to work when I got called away from the computer. When I got back to it a couple of minutes later, it was hot enough to be immediately painful to touch. So it not only doesn't work but is also a safety hazard.

Saved my day!
I damaged my Mac Book Air with a hot cup of tea.....and did not hav my files saved to the I-cloud. Lesson learned. However this drive was my fast save. I took the hard drive out, installed it into the enclosure and had all my files within minutes on my new computer. It might seem $56.00 is pricy for a one time use, but it is worth it. A store wanted to charge me $90.00 to look at the hard drive without guarantee and if data recovery, it would hav been $130.00. Also, I can still use the cover and the old hard drive as external storage. So, it really is a long term storage use.....and not loosing my files and bank access data, saved me a ton of time and headaches....so well worth the $56.00.

Works, but housing has constuction errors
The enclosure works as stated in the product description. My PCI SSD from the iMac 2013 was recognized immediately. The biggest flaw is the faulty construction of the enclosure. I had to cut off a corner of the SSD so that I could close the lid with the supplied screw (see picture). In general, there is no recess for the SSD to fit into the end of the case. The SSD rests on the edge that is intended for the lid. This leaves a gap, as can be seen in the pictures.Despite this flaw, I'm keeping the enclosure because I looked for it for a long time and couldn't find anything in Germany. I finally found it on Amazon USA and ordered it. 2013 MacBook Pro SSD doesn't quite fit...
Similar experience to other purchasers and reviewers. I harvested a 1TB SSD from an old MacBook Pro (mid/late 2013). While the pins lined up and the drive inserted well, the enclosure has a clear manufacturing/design error in that the PCB for the drive extends over the metal and screw hole used to attach the bottom of the enclosure. Since that small corner of the PCB didn't carry any circuitry that I could see, I cut down the corner to make it fit. Bottom line, a product like this should require you to break out a Dremel to work as advertised. #fail.Functionality is fine, though - Other Macs recognized the drive and Disk Utility was able to erase, partition, etc. Otherwise, this would have been a return with zero stars.
