Yes, the "mouse" area is 3/16" thick of dense foam rubber with a neoprene cover, so it is flexible enough to be pliable and floppy. The gel wrist rest area is much thicker, about 1" so it is more rigid. This is an excellent mouse pad for the money. All my employees use them and I keep one with my laptop when I travel because I prefer a wireless mouse over the Laptop's finger track pad.
