The sand arrived on time just as described and honestly didn't need anything when I first opened it I could see having to add water as it gets used but I haven't casted anything yet

I purchased this for making small aluminum castings in my backyard. Very highly recommend it. At 180 mesh, it is SUPER fine sand with which you can get really spectacular detail and surface finish, on par with delft clay, but you need to add vents to your casting molds like delft because the hot air and steam won't breathe through this sand. It's water based, so if it gets a little dry, just stir in a tiny bit of water to bring it back to life. I've re-used this sand for probably 30+ small castings now with no problems. Comes in a thick resealable ziplock plastic bag which I've kept the sand in for the several months I've had it, retains moisture really well. Most people complaining about this sand don't know what they're talking about. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the backyard foundryman.

I've seen a few reviewers that say it didn't work well for them. They must be doing something wrong. This sand worked fantastic for me. Hold the shape great and stays put just fine.
