Cleaning filter. I use a thin velcro like scruby to clean exterior buildup daily. Weekly I take off pump: remove fountain sprayer, push tube the sprayer was attached to through to other side of pump. Now pump is just attached to fountain by its cord. Use screw driver, twisting gently, in moon shaped indentation on pump. Lift cover off. Take filter out. Take to sink and flush repeatedly with water, squeezing gently to remove all that has packed and grown in there. Be gentle. When all clean reassemble. Hold pump under water to get rid of air bubbles and its back to spraying like its new. This is not complicated or difficult. Takes just a few minutes.My bird bath is 25"x 4 1/2".I also syphon out any debris daily so water stays clean. Birds LOVE it.I use the sprayer that is aimed down so it sounds like a flowing stream. And not much is lost to evaporation or overspray. This is upgraded fountain with has a filter.such an improvement over last years model without removable filter.

Wow, wow, wow! I've bought 8 of this style of solar fountain over the last ten years for use in my home garden, elementary school garden, and neighborhood center. All have had the same problem: they float around the birdbath as they spray so the water empties out of the bath very quickly, necessitating constant refilling. Not so with this one, thanks to the steadiers/supports you can plug in on the sides. Also, this is the only brand I've ever bought that includes replacement filters, along with a large and very good selection of nozzle heads for different sprays. I purchased two of these - one for a ground bird bath and one for an elevated one; they both work beautifully and the birds LOVE them - our population of songbirds has increased in the days since we put these in the garden. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a solar fountain. In my experience it's head and shoulders above any other brand of solar fountain.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wanted a fountain that was easy to use without additional materials needed. Ease of use:This fountain was easy to prepare for use. Water flow:I did run into an issue with the water level in my pot going down. I discovered that the fountain spray was shooting and splashing water outside the diameter of the pot which is 12”. I tried all the different spouts to find the one that had the least amount of spray. It’s not the look I really wanted and water level still is somewhat of an issue. I suggest Ensuring that your container you’re putting the fountain in has a diameter of at 14” - 16” diameter. Also realize that if it is in an area that doesn’t get sunlight throughout the day , you will not get any fountain activity!

For the money, this is pretty good! It has attracted lots of smaller birds so provides a lot of entertainment. The only suggestion I have is make sure your bowl/basin isn't shallow. I've seen the small birds enjoying a bath, spillage and evaporation will make the need to refill more frequently. On sunny days, the spout will shoot up a good foot as long as the basin in full.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This is our second solar water fountain “motor “. I have a big concrete bird bath in our backyard. The birds (and sometimes the squirrels) love it. They especially like when I put fresh cold water in it with a solar powered fountain to keep the water moving. I’ve seen as many as six birds in it at one time. Love it! It’s so easy to use, clean, change tips and lasts over a year in our crazy Louisiana weather.

This is a great solar fountain. I have ordered other solar fountains in the past but this one surpasses them. Easy to operate, functions great and has a variety of water displays and options. One can easily add spacers that are included so that the fountains stays centered keeping the water inside the fountain container. Comes with a variety of spray or nozzles to provide the desired display. Awesome unit. Very satisfied. The fountain was shipped right away and was delivered quickly.

This thing is FABULOUS, but there are some things to know about it. A big one is that the packaging contains no indication that it can be cleaned. In fact it can be cleaned easily, by gently twisting the pump, pulling it out of the disk, and removing the grill from the pump by prying with a small screwdriver. Doing this lets you remove gunk from the grill, and wash a foam filter that's behind the grill. It does gunk up, if you don't clean it, and I'm sure that explains some less happy reviews. I find using it without any nozzle (different ones are supplied) means that it keeps working even in lower light. Mine keeps working with no direct sun, though it does slow down.

Update: the seller has very kindly offered a refund. I will give this product another try after the refund comes through.This little fountain was really cool. Started right up when I put it in water on a sunny day. Even kept sputtering a less steady stream as the sun was going down, so I was impressed. It worked for about 2 weeks and then stopped working. I tried all the suggestions - cleaning it, shaking it, submerging it, etc. but it never came back to life. It was pretty cheap to buy, so it’s not like I’m out a ton of money, but I wish it had lasted a few months to get us through summer.
