Great tuner
It’s a tuner. It’s a boss. What could go wrong? This thing is great, works well, easy to use, very intuitive and easy to read. I’ve been waiting to buy a pedal tuner for some time now to replace the clip on tuners (though they still have their place) and finally decided on this especially with a recent sale. Great item, I expect it to last a long time like my other boss pedals.

Double duty pedal, tuner and a splitter
When I'm playing at home, I play with a Peavey Vypyr amp. Those amps have terrible tuners. Never seems to pick up the correct note on my guitar. This tuner is much better. Easy configuration, you can set it for guitar or chomatic or flat steps down, etc. The interface is super easy to read. I personally like the style where it looks like the LEDs are spinning right/left for sharp/flat, but they have the standard off from center tuning that most tuners use. All in all, this is a great tuner pedal, and I'm very happy with it. It does what it does very well. The thing I really like about this tuner is that there is an output and a bypass. Output gets cut when the pedal is active. If you are playing live, this is the one you will want to use. Bypass never gets cut. It's great for at home or if you are tuning somebody else to your instrument. But there's another awesome use for it; you can use it as a splitter and run your signal through 2 amps. This is fantastic for recording. Setting one amp up for the low end and another amp up for the high end and then mixing them together in the studio software makes for a very full sounding recording. If you want to run the same effects, put the tuner last, if you want to run different effects, put the tuner first.

More than I needed
This is an awesome tuner with lots of cool additional features for all kinds of tuning capabilities. Nice bright display is easy to see and the floor pedal format is great. You can also power other pedals through this unit if you get the A/C power supply. I use mine with 9Volt and very happy with performance. I do a lot of open tunings so a must have for live performances. Very happy with purchase.

Works great, but....
First of all, consider how you want to power it before purchasing. It comes with a 9 volt battery which they say is not for heavy duty use and therefor not made to last long. One reviewer said it eats batteries.Within 2 weeks of light usage the battery died unexpectedly when I went to use it.I considered getting replacement batteries but decided to purchase the Boss power adapter and not have to worry about the battery dying.Secondly, I was playing a gig immediately after tuning my electric bass. One of the band members told me my E string sounded out of tune. I showed him with the tuner that it showed it was in tune.At home I decided to compare the tuning using the pedal tuner with my tuning app.I discovered the tuning was the same, EXCEPT the tuning app registered my E string as a half step different than the pedal tuner. I trust the tuner app and also checked the tuning manually to confirm.A Google search found other musicians having the same issues with the pedal tuner. The solution I discovered was to do a reset of the pedal tuner which resolved the issue, but I will be checking the tuning periodically against other methods to confirm it is working properly.I played upright bass for 30 years before electronic tuning was popular. I had to tune by ear.My advice is to use the electronic tuners but also learn to listen for accuracy of pitches and trust your gut if something doesn't sound right.

Choice of two display modes to let you know if your in tune!
Everything I read says you have to have a tuner pedal on your board. So I picked this one based on other reviews. I'm a beginner intermediate player, but I understand the value of being in tune, and the aggravation you feel when what your playing just doesnt sound right. Just plug your guitar cord into the pedal and you can get yourself tuned up to exactly where your supposed to be within a minute or two... depending on the quality of the guitar and your string tuners.I have no compalint other than my $19.00 metronome and SPARK amp have tuner capabilities included. However not quite to the exact precision of the BOSS TU-3. This also has a bright display mode which can even be seen in daylight, and modes for step up and down tuning, as well as a stop scrolling lights which stop when your string is in tune, or a green light which lets you know when your in tune. If your serious about playing guitar, and you have the extra money to set out, don't hesitate. You won't be sorry.
