fast switch to battery mode (no latency)

As soon as you receive the UPS, you have to charge the battery without connecting any load: after 24h it will be ready for use (that's what manual says).First impressions after 3 days of use:This UPS does its job, it has a fast switch to battery mode (no latency): I repeatedly tested the unit by unplugging it from the wall, and the computer remained on without any interruption . The UPS app (available from website) is actually very useful: it allows you to control various settings on the unit, such as enabling or disabling the audible alarm, monitoring the charge percentage / estimated runtime, and, most importantly, automatically shutting down the computer before the battery is fully depleted. The app is available for both Windows and Linux (no macOS support). I use this UPS to protect two computers. According to the monitoring software, I'm using about 50% of the available power. In the event of an extended power outage, my battery charge is estimated to last around 16 minutes. My only concern is battery lifespan: how long will it last? Months? Years? Time will tell. Note: the replacement battery costs about $70, which is roughly the same as buying a whole new unit.I bought this UPS backup to protect my computers from sudden outages (flickering) of the electrical network, and it works. However, if you need more protection (such as prolonged blackouts), you’ll need a higher performance model with larger batteries.

We own 4 of these. Worth it!

The first one was purchased simply so we didn't have to wait 20 minutes for the DirecTV receiver to reboot when the power went out for a short period. Then the second was purchased to keep the modem and router online for a while when the power was out. Due the shift to working at home full time because of the pandemic my computer was added to that UPS. My wife also worked at home so a third UPS was purchased for her PC. Most recently I purchased one to protect the electronics in my home theater. They work great. They keep the power stable at least from low power conditions. I don't have a monitor to see how stable the power truly is. It's very convenient to continue doing whatever we are doing when power goes out at least for a while particularly when on the computer so we have time to save things, send final emails, click the buy now button on Amazon items etc. We have a 75" LG LED tv and we get about 30 minutes of run time after the power goes out. I can't provide an estimate for the computers because we shut them down after a few minutes if the power hasn't bee restored.

Happy to find out they still make this model!!!(BE650G1)

I would have saved myself a lot of time and hassle if I had known this UPS was still available. Family got 3 new computers for Christmas and since we live in hurricane alley(more on that later) I decided to get ups units for all of them.I originally bought 2 of the apc 600's on a black friday sale (not Amazon) but returned them in less than 30 min when I started reading the reviews and noticed it was light as a feather. It was advertised as having a usb port well yes technically that was true but it did not connect to anything. So in other words this ups had no way of shutting down the computer like a normal UPS has. The other biggie was the thing had a tiny battery and it was not replaceable. Why they did that is beyond me but between that and the faux usb port it was time to return them both. Note Amazon sells the same 600 here but the pictures show a real usb port and I have read they make that model both ways so that one might be ok.After that I ordered 2 similar cyber power units but canceled them after I read they too were disposable units because you could not replace the battery in them. I never could find out what battery they used and that was the tip off. At least they had real USB ports but I wanted to keep looking.I found a triplite 750 that had very good reviews but then one of the reviewers reported they don't work with Mac's and 2 of our new computers are those new Mini Mac M1's so I had to pass on that one. Then bingo I found an old friend called the BE650G1 or as some call it, the ES650. I still have the original model from 2007 and it still works like a charm. I also have it's baby brother the 325 and it also works just like new.During the fall , I lost track of how many Hurricanes we went through. But in 2 of them both these units worked their hearts keeping my servers and tv going. Around 4am the hurricane hit and the power was switching back and forth like mad. This went on till about 645am when we lost power for good. But this allowed me to watch the news and stay online till that time.So after finding out this unit was still available I ordered 3 of them and sure glad I did. No weird-tiny and hard to find batteries like some of the newer units. When UPS arrived today with my new 650's, they drove up my very steep driveway to put them in my garage because they are so heavy, The shipping box even had a Heavy label on the side. You can get the battery for the 650 from your local electrical supply company for about half the price that you pay at one of those national battery chain stores. That another reason why I would recommend this oldie but goodie model It also works with Windows, Linux and Macs with no issues and I hope APC will continue making this model for years to come!

Simple and perfect

I often find a lot of UPS’s to be so bulky. I appreciate the slim design. The number of outlets is pretty much perfect for any standard work station. The fewer outlets also means I don’t have to worry about users plugging in heaters. My only complaint is that I don’t recommend plugging in printers into this. I’m not going to fault an UPS for not handling a heater, but it seems like the battery degrades faster with a printer plugged in.

Quality product

Good product I have bought this item before. This model allows you to replace the battery after 5 years instead of replacing the whole thing.

A great asset during electric outage for backup.

Always working when you need it the most. A great product to have in your home.

Good item

Works well. Fried mine due to spikes in the power, but hey that is the reason we have those. Cheaper to replace these than a computer that cost easily 1000$ Would buy again. Btw the utility provider was the reason it fried.
